The VSC Sprintcar troupe made a trip out to Ballarat’s Redline Raceway for the beginning of their season proper and it was Shane Fisher somewhat a local to the Ballarat venue who took the victory from Dave Barker and rookie Sprintcar competitor Dan Carrigy. Pole sitter Allan Pitcher (# 98 – Mattys Race Engines – XXX Chassis) was victorious in the first heat of the program with Fisher a strong second in front of Barker. Darren Painter (# 33 weldflex -cooeenet – Cool) with his car spewing smoke drove well to hold onto fourth position however both he and Pitcher succumbed to engine gremlins and didn’t see any more action for the evening whilst Carrigy finished fifth in front of Geoff Ryde and Kellie Banks. Fisher and Barker (# 18 – Super Spray Smash Repairs – Eagle Chassis) then had a series of strong battles starting in heat two with Fisher getting away and the Barker reeling him in before Fisher secured the win with Carrigy third in the second heat with Ryde and Banks (# 23 – Air Design Custom Airbrushing – Murphy Chassis) completing the result. The final heat result was again a Fisher win from Barker and a strong drive by Banks who was getting more adventurous on each lap she completed as the confidence builds from track time. Carrigy (# 14 – Inaction Photo’s – Stealth Chassis) and Ryde rounded out the third heat field. With Fisher on pole in the feature again he and Barker broke away from the pack. Carrigy and Banks challenged each other before Carrigy got the best of that battle and they drove away from Ryde. Fisher was simply unbeatable over the last three events of the night and he was a deserved winner from Barker, Carrigy, Banks and Ryde (# 99 – Gulf Western Oil – Viper Chassis) who all now have the jump on the others in the club point situation. A delighted Fisher spoke after the win. “It is just a great feeling. Finally things for the ‘Uptime Truck & Trailers’ team are on the up. I have to thank all my crew and family because we have all worked hard through last season and the off season to make progress and our Ford is on song right now. I enjoyed the Redline track and it’s not far from home so a few more people I know could make it out. Thanks for the battle Dave Barker and I look forward to doing it again.” This season the VSC Sprintcars thank their current supporters including association point score sponsor: Bass Concreting Associate sponsors include: Lucas Oil Products Moe Engines Victory Lane Racegear Market Street Automotive Torque gas M & JM Cook Concreting Trans All Motors Modern Stainless Fabrications Westpoint Motors CC’s Engine Dyno
